I read a book last year, a deep dive on the "Spanish Flu" of 1919-1921.

One thing the book talked about was how, once the flu was over (a flu that killed significantly more people based on population size), it totally disappeared from the group consciousness. The author theorized that human evolution has caused us to collectively forget about pandemics in order to prevent us from self isolating for too long.

Think about it... We still remember 9/11. There are songs about it, books of fiction and nonfiction, movies... We remember wars and battles. We remember national disasters.

But pandemics don't get much press at all once they have passed.

We aren't all consciously agreeing to gloss over the pandemic. It's hardwired into our humanity.
